1.4.2010 - From Osor through the southern part of the isle of Cres
Obce more, I drive to Osor, this time to explre the southern part of Cres with my mountain bike.
Myrtl spurge (Euphorbia myrsinites), which I have found last year near the summit of Televrin. This year, I did not see any of the in this place, no wonder, because this winter Losinj had an unusual amount of snow - they say on one day even 40 cm!
Ants also finding this interesting.
Once more huge lots of Mediterranean Spurge (Euphorbia characias)
I am riding via the small village of Punta Kriza to a narrow cove.
Hawthorn (Prunus spinosa) in full flower.

Here is situated a beautiful, very natural camping ground. A bathing cove inside the Camping area. Click here or into the picture for a larger version.
Stunning view over the sea from the sternmost part of the Camping area, to the croatian continent with the snow covered mountains of the Velebit range, some 50 km apart.

Back in the village of Punta Kriza, surrounded with millions of mediterranean spurge. View in eastern direction to the Croatian continent ...
... and once more with maximal zoom. Nearly unbelievable that we are standing on an island and that these more than 1.600 m high mountains are at a distance of 50 km.

The cove of Ui east of Punta Kriza. From here, I take a gravel road to the easternmost tongue of land of this part of Cres.
Muddy puddle near the road. The groundwater with the backpressure of the sea - ground water near sea level prevents the water to drain through the permeable limestone ground.
