Siegendorf 23.5.2018

I have got a hint form Markus Sabor, where I can find very rare orchids in Burgenland. So, I drive to Siegendorf.

Soonm after my start I fidn this common bugloss (Anchusa officinalis)

I now walk down a path crossing dry grass area with pannonic flora. Here, "Austrian" Flax (Linum Austriacum) is growing, as well as ...

... cypress spurge (Euphorbia cyparissias) ...

... and sibiric bellflower (Campanula sibirica)

Following the description, I walk out into the plain grassland. Behind a row of bushes, I find this:

Hundreds of Anacamptis palustris (sorry, did´nt find an English name)

Anacamptis palustris

In between a single "lonesome" lesser butterfly orchid (Platanthera bifolia)

In between, on the wet grassland lots of  Yellow dragon´s teeth (Lotus maritimus)

Lady´s bedstraw (Galium verum).

Dyer´s greenweed (Genista tinctoria)

Back on the dry grassland. Lots of dropwort (Filipendula vulgaris)

Nerarly withered, and a shaken picture due to the permanent wind: Purple mullein (Verbascum purpureum)

dropwort (Filipendula vulgaris)

St. John´s wort (Hypericum perforatum) - a whole month in advance to its name-giving day of St. Johns´.

Schmalblättriger Lein (Linum tenuifolium)

View down the hill to the wet grassland.

Last flowrishing exemplars of the Burnt orchid (Neotinea ustulata)

Rampion with visitors: Thsi white spider has waited for its prey, the bee.

On the other side of the hill vineyards and fields. A red glance to the left ... that´s where I must head for.

En route another Purple mullein (Verbascum purpureum) besides the path.

That´s the red glance: a whole, huge field with poppies, with chamomile and cornflowers in between.

Back at the car, I meet this long-legged guy ...

 ...which regrettably immediately flees.
