17.5.2014: Through the Vintgar gorge
I leave my room in the Villa Preseren in the morning. After a final congress morning, I walk back the few steps to my hotel to get my car from the hotel car park.
The lake is much quieter today, nearly no more wind.
My accomodation as seen from the same place as the picture before. The terrace is a favourite place day tourists.
I drive to the North to the well known Vintgar gorge. On the way the view to Hochstuhl, in Carinthia in behind much more cloudy as here.
In the easternmost part of the Triglav national park you find this small miracle of nature - the Vintgar gorge. The river Radovna here breaks through this extremely narrow valley.
At the entrance of the gorge.
The river is getting much more torrential.
A very good path.
Extremely narrow here, ...
... and a bit wider there.
A small weir near the railway bridge. From a tunnel, the rail to Bohinjska Bistrica goes straight out and onto the bridge over the gorge.
The lower end of the gorge is an impressive waterfall.
Once more the weir.
Turning back now.
The sun comes out at the end of my walk.
