Teichalm 29.5. - 1.6.2024

Short holiday in the Hotel Pierer on the Teichalm. Regrettably, the weather mostly was overcast or rainy.

The day of arrival was the only bright one, so we immediately proceded to the Teichalm lake. A round walk and the walk to the Teichalm moor.

Teichalm lake, from the Northern shore.

Arrived at the eastern end. The lake is not very large.

180 ° Panorama of the Teichalm lake, as seen from the east. Click here or into the picture for a larger display.

We now branch off to the Teichalm moor, a short round walk, all the way on a boardwalk, to protect the nature of the moor.

Meanwhile, I already can walk a bit after my second knee operation in April - walking poles are essential however, especially to tackle steps.

Crossing a short leg of forest; the water of the beck is brown from the moor.

Broad-leaved marsh orchids (Dactylorhiza majalis) in abundance inmidst the moor.

Info plates - for those who speak German.

30.5.2024: a short level walk from the hotel along a meadow path in the pasture area.

View back to the Hotel Pierer, where we are accomodated.

Large mountain pasture ares, at about 1.200 m asl.

Only along the path, where now cows are grazing and no mowing or manuring, lots of flowers: Alpen-Kälberkropf (Chaerophyllum villarsii) and Meadow Cranesbill (Geranium pratense)

Red Campion (Silene dioica)

Huge pasture area here. Therfore, the area ist called "Almenland" ("Pasture Land")

1.6.2024: after a day with rain we dare to venture out - this time from the Teichalm lake heading for Gerlerkogel.

In the distance, behind the lake, our hotel.

As it starts to rain, we decide to shorten our walk.
