Schlossberg 17.4.2018

A two hourī walk from Winzendorf along the big limestone quarry and along the escarpment on the plateau of the Fischau mountains to the ruin Emmerberg, and back down via the "Eselssteig" down into the Prosset gorge, and back to Winzendorf.

Greater Stitchwort (Stellaria holostea) growing inside the forest.

There was a beautiful narrow path here, now there is an awful gap in the forest: the wood harvester has raged here recently.

Traces above the quarry too.

From the upper end of the quarry I look down to Winzendorf. You could easily see me here through the roof windows of my bathroom.

Panoramic view to Winzendorf, as seen from the upper end of the limestone quarry. Click here or into the picture for a larger display.

I now walk along the upper end of the Prosset goreg heading for the Neue Welt.

Gorgeous view down in some places.

Schneeberg

Cypress spurge (Euphorbia cyparissas)

Lucy has to be kept on the lead most of the time: it would be too dangerous besides the escarpments and regarding lots of deer around.

View to Schneeberg and the ruin Emmerberg.

Young leaves have emerged from the trees within a few days.

Arrived at the ruin Emmerberg.

A short leg above on the Schlossberg - my favourite view to the ruin Emmerberg and the Neue Welt with the Schneeberg and Hohe Wand.

Old walls around the ruin.

Spotted dead-nettle (Lamium maculatum) inside the forest.

Lots of young green!

Cowslips

View down the Prosset gorge.

Cowslips

I walk down along the Prosset beck. Lots of kingcups (Caltha palustris).

Bigleaf periwinkle (Vinca major) along the road.

In my garden: tulips ...

 ... Grape hyazinths ...

 ... and daffodills.
