Ronachgeier (Oberpinzgau), 1.7.2017

In the morning, after breakfast, I take the funicular down to the valley, the the training in Zams, and at lunchtime, I start for a drive back, this time  along the Inn- and Ziller-valley and over the Gerlos pass, where I have booked accomodation in a hotel situated between the pass and the village of Wald in the Oberpinzgau.

I wake up at 6 a.m., to relize, that the sun is shining. Short way to the emergency stair outside the building reults in this picture.

And this one is the view out of the window of my room.

Landeck in first morning light.

View down the Inn valley.

The sculpture of a craw - on the Krahberg ("craw mountain") summit.

Ötztal Alps.

Morning mist over the upper inn valley.

After breakfast, I pack my luggage and walk to the funicular. 10 minutes till departure. Yesterday´s summit ...

 ... in changing ...

 ... light.

Landeck and Zams.

Der chairlift leading up from the Langesbergalpe.

Venet summit in mist now - like yesterday.

View down the Inn valley.

Wonderful view over Zams from the funicular.

Oberpinzgau. I have checked in my accomodation in the Hotel Ronach and started an afternoon walk up the Ronachgeier. I thin I wouldn´t reach the summit, but it may become a nice walk up to the region above the timberline.

During a short shower in between I find shelter at a mountain pasture hut.

View across the uppermost Salzach valley to the upper Krimml Waterfall.

Short sunny spells in between.

View into the Nadernach valley.

Mountain Arnica (Arnica montana)

Rusty-leaved Alpenroses (Rhododendron ferrugineum), in full flower in this more sun exposed place.

Having reached about 2000 m asl, I decide to turn back, because otherwise it will be too late for dinner in the hotel. A wie desicion, because shortly after I´ve started walking down, mist wraps the summit regions ...

... and 20 minutes before I am back, it starts raining - this time more heavy and for a longer time.
