14.9.2024: Steinkjer - Laksforsen - Sandnessjøen.
The long journey ´now can begin today´s schedule is longer than usual - more than 300 km from Steinkjer to Sandnessjøen, where we meet the coast.
Sunrise and morning mist in Steinkjer - a wonderful sunny day.
On the drive over the excellent road E6 heading for North. Firstly along the very long lake Snåsavatnet, a short stop to enjoy nature at a little cove called Aunbukta.
After the huge lake, the journey goes upstream through the valley of Namdalen, along the river Namsen.

After crossing a flat pass at a watershed, th route goes down, and after the small town of Trofors we reach the Laksforsen, the biggest waterfall in Europe regarding amount of water, with double amouint of water compared with the Rhine fall near Schaffhausen.
Near the waterfall to the left is a nice restaurant (open only in summer till 15.9.) with a breathtaking view down to the falls, where we treated ourselves with delicious salmon.
Laksforsen (engl.: salmon waterfall - salmons are jumping it up at the appropriate season!)
On the further drive to Sandnessjøen.
Arrived in Sandnessjøen, we checked in into our hotel, the Scandic Syv Söstre ("Scandic seven sisters" - called after the 7 mountains behind Sandnessjøen .
View from the hotel room to the harbour - despite being rather tired, we go for a short walk down to the harbour.
Sunset in the harbour of Sandnessjøen.
Rowan trees are rather frequent here in the North, so as an indigenous tree it is readily planted as an alley tree.
Ripe fruits of the rowan.
