13.9.2024 Flight Vienna -Trondheim and drive to Steinkjer, and there watching Northern lights.
Due to bad weaather in Vienna, our flight from Vienna to Oslo is nearly an hour late, part of which was made up by a higher flight speed, to catch the onnecting flight to Trondheim however was very doubtful. After hurrying along nearly all of the airport we come to the Trondheim flioght, which in turn is a bit late, so that we have to wait nearly 15 minutes for boarding.
From Vienna´s permanent rain now appraching Oslo ...
... in bright sunshine.
Oslo´s airpoort being a bit North of the city, we have to cross Oslo before landing.
On gthe second flight to Trondheim we cross the Mjøsa lake with its little island of Helgøya.
IHigh mountains now to the west with snow cover - Jotunheimen?
VWe are approaching the airport of Værnes from the east - in the centre of the vlley near the sea, the runway can be seen.
We got our rented car (a better category without extra charge - a BMW X1 x-drive!) and had an afternoon drive of about 90 km to Steinkjer. After shopping in a slarge local shopping centre, we checked in ionto the hotel and waited for the night - as Northern lights were forcast.
We drive back a bit on the highway to a small hill. Here, there is a good view to the west and North, but the electric illumination of the road makes first weak northern lights invisible by the naked eye. - however visible on the camera´s pictures.
This does not change later on, so ...
... we change position to the Reinsvatnet, a small lake northwest of Steinkjer. Here it is much darker.
Besides the road in a small lay-by, we start to watch.
Changing from left to right of a small group of trees, the tripod is set up.
God´s eye appearing in the zenith ...
... sending us down His Angel.

Shortly before midnight, we go to bed exhaustedly.
