Altaussee-Loser-Grundlsee 19.5.2017

Due to bad weather forcast for Sturday and Sunday, an extended weekend trip to Bad Aussee is immediately started by a trip to Altaussee.

Only a very short detour to the hotel to check in. Dachstein today is appearing at its best.

First, we walk from the tollgate of the Loser road to thge Blaa - Alm, hoping to find the white daffodills.

Blaa Alm is a very beautifully situated mountain inn, ...

... where we treat ourselves to a small lunch, after the long drive.

 ... and the Sandling.

Afterwards, we drive up the toll road to Loser. At one of the hairpin bends, we stop to enjoy the view.

Special beauty of the view to Dachstein today.

A bit more up, Lake Altaussee comes into view.

Winter greets us at the uppermost car park ...

What is disturbing in this picture? The young green needles of the larches combined with thew lots of snow. Explanation: more than 1 m of new snow mid April!

Susanne has waited at the Loser hut, now a good coffee and a curd cheese strudel with vanilla cream, with a perfect view. Taht´s life! Lake Altaussee, Altaussee village, Dachstein massive; far right the Sarstein, in the centre of the picture is the Ausseer Zinken.

Back from the mountain and looking for daffodills in another place: found them in in Wienern, on the southeast shore of the Lake Grundl.

Stern - Narzisse (Narcissus radiiflorus) (sorry, no English name or description found)

Every year end May, the daffodil celebration (Narzissenfest) is held in Bad Aussee.
