Sunrise on Kienberg 17.1.2019

Inspired by yesterday´s view of the deeply snow covered Schneeberg, I get up early today and drive to Zweiersdorf for an experience of the first rays of sun on Schneeberg.

The sun should rise at 7:39 in Vienna, I´m up at 7:20 and set up my tripod. First pink gleam around the summit at 7:25.

Schneeberg and Hohe Wand still in shadow.

Morning redness above Bucklige Welt.

7:33 - the pink gleam gets more intensive. At an altitude of 2.000m, the sun should rise a bit earlier.

7:37: the sun is out.

7:38 - More sun on Schneeberg, ...

 ... gets more intensive ...

... and now also reaches Hohe Wand.

At 7:41, the sun is out on the summits in the foreground too.

Schneeberg and Hohe Wand.

Hohe Wand and the community of Hohe Wand, comprising the villages of Maiersdorf and Stollhof

Zoomin in on Schneeberg. Not only Breite Ries is deeply covered with snow, the rocks on both sides too. This really is a rare event.
