An Evening on the Hohe Wand - 10.7.2015
After a slightly cooler, sometimes cloudy day it clears up completely in the evening. For some time, I have planned to make pictures of evening and night. So, at 7:45 p.m, I start the drive up Hohe Wand.
My first goal is the Waldeggerhaus. From here, you get a wonderful view to the west, a good place to wwait for the sunset.
The view to the view tower on Hohe Wand and to Schneeberg. Dürre Wand to the right.
The sun ...
... still up a bit. This is the view to Northwest. Far left in the dust, Ötscher can be seen very faintly.
Flowers on that wonderful grassland beneat the Waldeggerhaus: Oregano (Origanum vulgare)
Musk thistle (Carduus nutans)
This one seems to serve as a sleeping place for bumble bees ... could be broken-belted bumblebees (Bombus soroeensis) ???
St. John´s wort (Hypericum perforatum)
Evening impressions ...
... with Schneeberg in the background.

Sunset comes nearer ...
Last rays ...
A last panorama, after that I change my place ... Click here or into the picture for a larger display.
A short drive over to the Skywalk, where I wait for the night to come. This is the view to Maiersdorf
Skywalk, with Wiener Neustadt behind, Stollhof beneath. Funny traces of light on the Skywalk on this long time - exposure ...
... coming from a fresh air - freak preparing his hammock for a night outside. Now, he has layn down to sleep. Panoramic picture with the Skywalk. Click here or into the picture for a larger display.
View over Maiersdorf, Gaaden, Muthmannsdorf and the Fischau mountains to the lights of Wiener Neustadt.
The sleeper ...
I walk to the big plain grassland near the Postl inn to admire the stars.
Up centre the Great Bear, one of the very few constellations I know. The light far right down ist still the last sunlight - at 10:45 p.m.!
This light is artificial from settlements in the southern Vienna´s plain (Neunkirchen?)
Aeroplanes on their way.
Tremendous number of stars ...
Still a slight bit of light to the Northwest.
