Emmerberg 5.1.2016

Bright sunshine in the morning, and a few cm of fresh snow, which stays because it is rather cold with -8°C morning temperature. Forst, I have to work, and shortly before I want to start at 11 a.m., mist has drawn in. A change of plan has to be made: no walk over fields but I have to look for a place without mist. A short time after arrival of the mist, the ruin Emmerberg could still be out ...

And indeed: after climbing the height behind Winzendorf´s big limestone quarry and crossing part of the plateau, the sun is out.

But looking back ensures that the mist isn´t very far.

The view from the small rock plateau to the ruin Emmerberg - mist is drawing in ...

... so, Hohe Wand can´t be seen already.

Still a small bit of sun though, ...

 ...

... so I walk up the short leg to the deer feeding place on the ridge.

This is my point of return, I don´t walk further up to the summit of Schlossberg (to be seen in the background).

Muthmannsdorf in the mist.

A bit of snow on the plants ...

 ... and trees.

The mist gets denser during my descent to the ruin Emmerberg.

Lucy indefatigably chases pine cones thrown by me and lays them down in front of me saying: "Come on, throw it!"
