Bodenwiese 30.5.2012

A morning walk from Obertal near Prigglitz to the Bodenwiese and further on to the small summit of Saurüssel.

My route

Idyllic grassland in the "Obertal"

From half route the view goes to Sonnwendstein, with Hirschenkogel to the right, behind it is Stuhleck.

View to the Rax massive. Not much snow left, as compared to the status 5 weeks ago.

View down to Payerbach

Arrived at the Bodenwiese, Waldburg - Angerhuette.

View over the grassland, about 3 km air line to the opposite side, 97 hectars grassland.

Flowers in the grass: Sweetflower rockjasmine (Androsace chamaejasme)

Narcissus-flowered anemone (Anemone narcissiflora)

Bitter milkwort (Polygala amara)

The huge grassland covers a hollow on the plateau of the Gahns - massive.

Now ascending through the forest to the summit of Saurüssel more grassland on the way up.

A bit more than a year ago, a big fire destroyed the Friedrich Haller Haus, a year later, the new house on the Knofeleben is ready. Behind is the Stadlwand.

The summit region of Schneeberg, with the highest summit, Klosterwappen to the left and the Fischerhütte to the right.

Heukuppe, 2.009 m, the highest summit of the Rax massive. The prominent snow field, called "Schneeloch" ("snow hole", usually keeps the snow over the whole year.
