Blosser Berg and Marble Quarry 14./23.3.2022

A bit spring-like weather at last, though still a bit chilly. Walks to the Blosse Berg and to the marble quarry.

14.3.2022. The pasque floers on the Blosser Berg are rather low this year due to low temperatures and dryness.

Only a few grow higher.

23.3.2022 On the steep path from the vineyards to the marble quarry In the light pine forest there are pasque flowers (Pulsatilla grandis) growing along the path.

After half of the ascent, I branch ff to the right following the signposted Winzendorf´s roundwalk number 5, leading at contant level along a wonderful old dry sone terrace (an abandoned vineyard?) along the mountain.

Near the way, like in many more places in the light forest, shrubby milkwort (Polygala chamaebuxus).

A very special, larger and dark coloured exemplar of the pasque flowers (Pulsatilla grandis)

View down to the "stone field" from the path.

On the plane part of the route another larger patch of pasque flowers (Pulsatilla grandis).

A bit further, where the ground is less dry and beeches are dominating, I reach a large path with lots of common primroses and liverworts.

Steep ascending now the valley. An old water basin with an inscription - built in 1941 by Italian prisoners of war.

Walked back along the upper gravel road to reach the marble quarry. Nice view to Winzendorf and to the snow covered Wechsel massive.

Besides another small patch of pannonian flora - spring cinquefoil (Potentilla Neumannii) in abundance.
