9.6.2019: Looking for orchids in the Aussee-land.

If you meet a local via Facebook, who is similarly interested in flowers, and who guides you to the best places, you´re lucky. So, in front of the "Wasnerin", I meet Andi, a pharmacy student in his 10th semester, and together with his father we visit two special orchid places.

On the way we find these wonderful group of bird´s nest orchids (Neottia nidus-avis).

This places speciality however is the completely yellow variant of the Lady´s slipper orchid (Cypripedium calceolus "variatio flavum"), in German also called "Goldschuh" ("golden slipper")

Of course, there are many more "normal" Lady´s slipper orchids (Cypripedium calceolus) here.

Our second destination is the wet area between Kainisch and the Ödensee. Here we find wonderful areas with lots of White daffodils (Narcissus radiiflorus)

In an even more wet place, Western marsh orchids (Dactylorhiza majalis).
